OK native kicked off TCU football team for drug charges | News

Oklahoma native Devin Johnson was among 17 Texas Christian University students arrested in a drug sting Wednesday morning. TCU football player Johnson and the three other teammates were arrested as part of the sting have been removed from the team.

Police say he was selling marijuana to his fellow TCU students.

TCU Police Chief Steve McGee said, "The drugs these dealers were selling included marijuana, cocaine, ecstasy powder and pills, acid and prescription drugs."

Court documents reveal how, with the use of undercover investigators, they were able to catch Johnson in the act.

According to the probable cause affidavit, "Officers negotiated (with Johnson) for a price of $610 for the sum of 2 oz. of purported marijuana."

Before Johnson walked on at TCU, he was a star athlete with a 4.1 GPA at Moore High School where he held state records.

Some students there say they are surprised at the arrest.

Johnson's mother was a little shaken up after reading the affidavit.

She said she was surprised to learn of the allegations and didn’t want to go on camera.

She hasn't spoken to her son yet but says he is a good son, student and athlete.

All 17 students have been kicked off campus, according to administrators.

Johnson and the other team members have been removed from the football team's online roster.
